The Systane® iLux2® MGD treatment device administers targeted treatment directly to the blocked meibomian glands. Each session typically lasts 8–12 minutes for both eyes.
Your medical professional assesses your eyelids to identify the treatment zones. Your eyelid is gently held between the soft, biocompatible pads of the Systane® iLux2® device’s Smart Tip Patient Interface. For comfort, you may keep your eyes closed during the procedure.
Therapeutic heat, delivered through light-based technology, gradually warms the blocked glands to a safe temperature, aiding in the softening and release of the trapped oil. Depending on your specific needs, your doctor may adjust the heat or apply gentle pressure to facilitate the process.
Compression techniques are then used to express the melted oil from the glands, completing the treatment.
